Some varieties of plum fruit are sour, while others are sweet. Alu Bukhara is often used as an auxiliary flavor enhancer in biryanis and other dishes. Alu Bukhara provides minerals, iron, vitamin K, and potassium. The word Aloo is derived from the Persian word for plum, and “Bokhara” is named after the city of Bukhara in Uzbekistan. In short, Alu Bukhara means plum of Bukhara.
